Mrs S M Robson wrote to us about her grandfather's KGH Jewel:
I have had my Grandfather's medal for years and no-one in the family had any idea what it was for. Today sorting through family memorabilia I decided to Google the motto and up popped your web site. Finally a mystery solved! My Grandfather received his Knight medal in 1901, T.A. McCullough Encampment. The family lived in Bishop Auckland at the time. Sadly he was killed in 1916 in WW1 when my father was 11 years old. His medal is in perfect condition (albeit a bit tarnished) I thought you might be interested in this bit of history. His medal now resides with me in Canada
Our researcher and historian, SKC Karel Simpson GWT has done some further research and uncovered Kt Peter Johnson Robson's WWI medal index card WO372/17/60373 recording the award of the 1914-15 Star, Victory Medal and British War Medal, and the citation from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, an annotated copy shown below and which is now proudly displayed in the main parade room of our Headquarters in Spennymoor, Co. Durham, just a few miles from where Kt Robson was a member of No 14 T A McCullagh Encampment in 1901.
